A Transit Police officer who happened on a car just sitting on a Sullivan Square onramp up to I-93 north early Monday wound up arresting the driver, who was asleep behind the wheel with the lights off but the motor running, a gun loaded with eight rounds in the car with him, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. For the past week, members of the Nipmuc and Massachusett tribes gathered daily at the Little Mystic Boat Ramp in Charlestown to burn a large pine log, then carve it out to create a mishoon or traditional canoe.

The Boston Public Health Commission reports all the rain has overloaded local sewer mains, to the point that one MWRA outflow pipe, upstream of the North Washington Street Bridge, started pouring sewage-laden water into the inner harbor at 1:01 a.m, "creating a potential public health risk." MassDOT officials said tonight workers are busy fixing defective welds on the new North Washington Street Bridge and that they should be done by the end of December, letting non-repair construction resume in January - with a goal of switching three vehicle lanes and sidewalks over from the current temporary bridge in December, 2023. Mayor Wu says she hasn't banned the installation of artificial turf for new playing fields in Boston, just that she'd prefer it no longer be installed, which is how the city Parks and Recreation Department is going ahead with plans to stick with synthetic turf when it replaces the current aging artificial grass at Charlestown High School's football and softball fields. A woman whose car somehow flipped onto the tracks that run alongside the Orange Line at Sullivan Square early Saturday walked away largely unscathed, Live Boston reports. The cause of the crash remains under investigation; Live Boston reports another vehicle might have fled the scene.
