When it rains, it pours inside T stations

Scenes inside Ruggles station this morning showing lots of buckets

Boy, it sure rained buckets early this morning, huh? In case you managed to sleep through it all, you could still get a feel for just how much rain fell inside Ruggles station, where Handmaid captured some of the many fine barrels the T put in to capture all that water inside the station.

Like the skylight trend, it didn't age well.

This is a huge problem on the commuter rail platform at Forest Hills as well. The amount of water that rains down has me worried about the long term integrity of the ceiling - it's easily 2-3 gallons per minute in one specific area.

Waiting for the 31 or 21 Bus you are subjected to another waterfall. You'd think a pipe burst or something. It has to be really pouring though.

I'm sure they stay waterproof as long as you keep up on the maintenance. Thing is, in this case, it's more "mainenance", since there's no "T" in "maintenance".

But what about the puddles of water in other stations even when it's not raining?

My current favorite is at the bottom of the stairs from the Orange Line to the Red Line at Downtown Crossing. It's wet 24/7/365. Is it clean water or sewage or other?

Used to love how resourceful T workers would use stacks of Metro newspapers to sop up the permanent rivulets there.

I was on the redline this morning at rush hour (815am) and the cars were jam packed, no air or ventilation so all the windows were fogged and it just smelled like breath.

I guess Covid and respiratory diseases in general are not a concern anymore?

Well I mean, _you_ catching them is not of concern to the T management, who don't ride the subway themselves.

Pushing people to take the T more, but don’t invest any money to make it better. What do they think is going to happen when more and more people take it? Where’s all this money from the millionaires tax?

Magoo thinks this is outrageous, simply outrageous. Magoo, for one, demands action from MBTA handlers. If one can’t handle the heat, one must stay out of the kitchen, or in this case, if one does not want to get wet, one must stay out of the ocean. FYI Magoo likes to snuggle wif Magoo’s cuddly doggie, Magoo has named Magoo’s cuddly doggie, CuddePup. Magoo.

Someone should invite Eng to spend the night there and experience it himself.
