Dog no longer fit for fighting dumped in Hyde Park woods to die

By adamg - 12/15/09 - 9:02 pm

Wicked Local Walpole reports on "Turtle," a badly injured pit bull found abandoned and near death along Turtle Pond Parkway in Stony Brook Reservation:

"She was in pretty bad shape," said Lt. Alan Borgal of the Animal Rescue League, explaining dog fighters often discard animals that are excessively injured.

That poor dog.

As an owner of a pit bull mix myself, this makes me sick. That dog has probably been abused and mistreated its whole life, and then left to rot on the side of the road.

I hope she can recover (physically and emotionally), and I hope that someone can eventually adopt her and learn what I've learned: that pit bulls are some of the biggest-hearted, most people-loving dogs out there, despite their reputation that really should be the reputation of poor owners and not the dogs themselves.

So disturbing...

I read this in the Globe this morning and was sickened. The Animal Rescue is accepting donations for Turtle in the CeCe Fund. Link is in the last paragraph.

When will horrors like this become a serious crime? When will animals become more than property? D_ammit I am so angry and frustrated right now.

My only hope is that what

My only hope is that what happened to this dog happens to the sick individual who did this only worse.
