His chauffeur must have had the day off

M reports witnessing an argument this morning on the 9 bus between a woman and a man who tried using her knee as an armrest so he could read the paper:

Angry Business Man: You could have picked any other seat, but you had to sit right there when I was already sitting here.

Woman: That's how the bus works in the morning ... you fill in the bus so everyone can get on.

A.B.M.: That's just so f****in inconsiderate. You are such a b**ch. ...

Sounds to me like he belonged on an elementary school bus instead - then he would have been acting his age (and even then, I'd expect that most of the other kids on the bus would have been much better behaved, lol). Especially with all the "I got here first" bullcrap.

This past weekend I went to see a movie with a friend at the Fenway cinema and had a very similar thing happen. My friend and I sat down with no one in front of us, behind us or beside us. Then as things started to fill up and my friend took a last trip to the rest room before the movie began, a group of people moved into our row and filled in all the seats to the right of the one my friend had been sitting in. Since there was one open seat to my left (before the aisle) and the movie was about to start, my friend and I decided to scoot over one to the left when she returned, leaving one empty seat between her and the newcomers. I quickly realized, though, that the person sitting behind my new seat had hung her jacket over "my" seat and my head was bumping against the hood. At first I tried not to lean back, but gradually decided that the seat was for sitting and not for coat draping and that she should really move her coat. I turned around, was able to catch the eye of the person behind me and nicely said, "Oh, I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm bumping into your coat. Would you mind moving it?" with an apologetic smile. Naturally, I expected a response along the lines of, "Oh my goodness, I didn't see you there. I am so sorry, let me move that out of your way!" What I got was, "You weren't sitting there when I put it there." Pause. To which I responded, "That's right, but I am now." Much huffing ensued before she got around to moving the coat, but move it she did. I asked my friend if I had come off b**chy and she said I was at least 75% nicer than she would have been.
