MBTA fires up its own bus tracker

T-Tracker provides real-time bus tracking for the 39, 111, 114, 116 and 117 routes. It's using the same GPS-based feed the T opened up to private software developers in November.

Damn, the 39 is running on some long ass headways today. 22 minutes for the next bus?

Anyway: Webpage is nice. The map is nice. The phone number is nice. All they're missing is a text message system....and screens at the busiest stations for us poor folks without internet phones.

And I love that the stock photo used on the main page looks like it was taken in the early 90s

J - there is a text message system for you to use. And, as you mentioned, there is a local phone number you can dial - dial the number and plug in the stop code for your stop. Both the texting and the phone system work without having Web-enabled phones.

Here's a link to the NextBus website that shows you how to use texting:

send to 41411 message: nbus mbta within a few seconds you'll get the predictions
