Increasingly brazen arsonist sets four more cars on fire in small part of Allston
Allstonian reports three cars were set on fire this morning off Pratt Street - and then another one went up in flames across the street after firefighters put out those fires.
Christine Varriale reports:
Thank goodness for the old Chinese lady next door with the garden hose. I can't believe someone is so crazy to set cars on fire for fun.
The Boston Fire Department reports the first fires, shortly before 8 a.m. behind 24 Pratt St., completely consumed two cars and damaged a third. As crews were dealing with that, they were alerted to the other fire, behind 33 Pratt St.
At least nine cars have now been torched since mid-August in the area tucked between the train tracks and the BU campus. Arson investigators are on the case; ask anybody in the Pratt/Ashford area who sees something to say something by calling 617-343-3324.

So messed up, what a crazy
So messed up, what a crazy asshole. Especially because this is one part of town where you can reliably find free weekly parking...time to start looking elsewhere..
that area is resident only permit parking
maybe you are confused?
Looks like off-street parking
At least some of these cars look to be parked off-street, unless the street goes right up to the building walls.
ALL off-street
Every car that's been torched was parked off-street - mostly not even just in a driveway, but in a parking area behind a house. And as stated above, all of the street parking in the neighborhood is either metered or neighborhood permit only.
Time for modular cameras
One of the amazing things about this is that this happened in the daylight hours. How the hell is it that no one saw anything? Isn't it past time for the BPD to erect some modular cameras down there?
From the article the fire was
From the article the fire was started near 8am. That area is mostly college students; not many of them get up before noon on Saturday.
Hey that's me in photo :-)
Hey that's me in the top photo, the guy with the yellow baseball cap worn backwards. I was photographing these fires. Please see my photos at pictureboston.com
Thanks,
Mark
You look pretty well put
You look pretty well put together, to be honest. That is refreshing. What bars do you frequent? Maybe we can chat...
good work
I see you are proud of what you have done and like to take pictures of it!
Exciting, eh?
Bike terrorist?
What's the over/under on this being a pro-bike anti-car fanatic?
I'll take your money
Since the odds that it is a local psych job are high and an ecoterrorist nil.
Ecoterrorists torch dealerships, love.
