Right. But what blew my mind, at 8:45 this morning, was that there were at least 120 people waiting in the pouring rain. Maybe we need more focus on mathematics in the Cambridge Public Schools?

And the ones after 100 in line are thinking that people ahead might leave the line, or they might sneak ahead, or they might act butthurt at not getting their bag after waiting and the company will just give them something.

$100 @ $20/hr = 5 hours work. So even waiting 2 hours makes sense.

Now, if these dolts were camped out since last week....

WTF is that supposed to mean? This city is filled with great art schools and I'm not just talking general art schools like MassArt (which is fantastic in itself). MIT had the first architecture program in the country, Harvard has one, Wentworth has one, Northeastern has one, the BAC has one. We shop at Blick too. Gotta have materials to build the models and sketchbooks to sketch on! In fact, it's not uncommon to spend $50-$100 a week at Blick. I got a 5 (out of 5) on my AP Calc exam back in high school and here I am becoming an architect.

Get your head out of your ass. I'm not one to respond like this, but this closed-minded comment pushed me over the edge.

Anon just made a typical douchey internet comment with the goal of making himself feel smart for a fleeting moment. There's no need to retaliate, and citing your AP Calc score sure isn't going to help. Nice job on that, though -- especially if it was the BC exam. If it was just AB, eh, not so impressive.

It was more to prove the point that people with a great math background end up in art school too. I would have been in this line, had I not overslept! Haha.

The anon poster made no connection between art school and bad math. Your oversensitivity caused YOU to make that connection. In reality, it was a JOKE about Cambridge Public Schools and bad math. Because it took place in Cambridge. Cripes!

Listen, bud. Noone's gonna take you seriously till you stop bragging about your high school test scores. Noone. Do not brag about em while hitting on hotties, do not brag about em on job interviews, do not brag about em on a news post about an art supply store. Noone cares.

Hi! I want to help you out here. It seems you have a misconception that any school with an architecture program can be called an "art school". This is not true in any way. None of the schools you mention, aside form MassArt, can be called art schools. You should stop calling them art schools, because it is wrong.

It is nice that you are enrolled in an architecture program, but please stop referring to it as art school. Architecture is not taught at art schools. It's just not the same thing and makes you sound naive.

Spousal Unit was there, didn't make it into the first 100, and still managed to get tons of freebies, as one might expect to get at an event.

(And she even has a job! Just not one that had her working this morning. Friends who work evenings, overnights, etc. also were there. Be sure to make some of your assholish "don't you people have jobs" comments next time you're being served outside of 9-5 hours in the grocery store or a restaurant or an emergency room. Or if your house catches on fire after 5:00.)

Where were all these upstanding citizens when Bob Slate was still kicking?

Most of these are the Central Square free stuff people, not the Harvard Square aspiring artist aspiring novelist people.

Many of those in line are the Central Square free stuff crowd. Much of these free materials will be resold. And so it goes.

Bob Slate didn't close due to lack of business.

Then they are in line to steal the Old Holland paints and then bring them back in for a cash refund.
