Wicked frickin' pissa, eh?

Dan Kennedy reports the Globe has given up trying to moderate story comments on boston.com and is outsourcing the whole thing to some company in Winnipeg. No profanity allowed and stop making accusations about Carl Crawford; one wonders whether wise-guy Boston trolls will try to sneak any Boston-English variants past the Manitobans.

moderated comments?

Could have fooled me!

What they should do is require real names and verification. It keep the trolls at bay.

Winnipeg used to be home to Canwest, which was relatively large on the Canadian media stage. I think Canwest went tits-up in 2009. I can't help guess if this is a spin-off. If it is, the Globe will self-censor. Perhaps that's exactly what the Globe wants to do.

Boston Globe jobs going to a foreign land? Is this the same paper that criticized Hyatt Hotels and Evergreen solar, among others, for outsourcing? Did the Globe collectively bargain with the union that once represented these jobs or did they "overreach" like they accused the Wisconsin governor of doing? Do tell.

On the up side, Winnipeg will be getting its first computer and an Internet link.

I nominate "Sneaking one past the Manitobans" as the latest cool expression, along the same lines as dropping the kids off at the pool, taking your talents to South Beach, etc.

I tried sneaking one past the Manitobans last night, but she yelped and rolled back over to her side of the bed.
