So a third of a billion dollars gone so the cops could NOT find this guy.

I mean, it took 9,000 cops, but they found him.

Yeah, they found him after they let people out of their homes so a civilian could locate him.

(Assuming current reports are correct, of course.)

to go to the Back Bay and give a few businesses my money today.

I did not get paid for my unexpected day off from work yesterday and not one single f--k was given in my house. I'm fortunate that a day's pay won't affect my ability to pay my bills.

Establishments of the Back Bay with liquor licenses, get the gin ready. I need a drink.

OK, not to be frivolous, but look on the bright side of yesterday's coverage: four broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) and 2 1/2 cable news networks (CNN, MSNBC and Fox when Shepard Smith is on) spent all day commenting on how great the people of Boston are on a mostly-sunny day when people who were seen wore light clothing as befits 70-plus-degree temperatures. You couldn't BUY advertising like that. I wouldn't be surprised if hundreds-of-thousands of people formed a positive view of Greater Boston and would consider visiting here.

1. schools were not in session
2. many people were on vacation elsewhere anyway (see #1)
3. people have developed ways of working from home during major storms, etc.
