His worst nightmare: The Dropkick Murphys and Steven Tyler singing Sweet Caroline to open the season at Fenway
By adamg on Sun, 01/20/2013 - 12:41pm
Somebody's more than a little tired of the Dropkick Murphys being played at every single major sporting event in town:
It's become ridiculous. I grew up a DKM fan, and still play them with pride for two weeks in March, but this city has turned them into glorified mascots for the B's, Sox, Pats, and C's. Call me old fashioned, but playing fight songs for billion dollar corporations doesn't seem very punk rock to me. This goes double for Steven Tyler.

Hey! Easy on Tyler!
He's the Johnny Pesky of rock and roll.
Intriguing.
I am concerned about this Reddit hipster's opinion on sports anthems.
Maybe the song will die from creepiness
Sweet Caroline is based on pedophilia. Neil Diamond was 25 and Caroline Kennedy was 9 when writen. Penn State banned the song from football games. Remember this and pass it on.
And we all know how that
And we all know how that turned out for Penn State.
Zing!
HEYOOO!!
Anyone Remember
Does anyone remember when Ken Casey did a pro-Flaherty radio ad in which he lamented Sweet Caroline being played at Fenway (which I suppose was somehow supposed to be Menino's fault?). Seems like he's come a long way since then. I also used to be a huge DKM fan but it's getting harder and harder to support them outside of the aforementioned two weeks in March.
