Springfield news site moving east

Garrett Quinn reports he's been hired as a reporter by MassLive.com, the Springfield Republican's online wing, to cover "all things Greater Boston, eastern Massachusetts, and Worcester," along with Shira Schoenberg.

I honestly didn't think the Pioneer Valley cared what is happening beyond the Quabbin....
(And, to be honest, I was one of those Valley Folks back-in-the-day..)
Wait...What (v 2.0)
MassLive.com really doesn't even cover WMass stuff very well (i.e. its home turf.) I don't understand why they feel the need to branch out east, when they can barely cover something that two towns over from Springfield.
Besides, nobody is going to go to that site for eastern Mass news.
I'd really like it if MassLive could look at a UHub model: lots of short stories about hyper local news/events, with the occasional link to MSM when the situation warrants it.
Could this have something to do with casino legislation?
