State rep would let cities and towns post legal notices online

Newspapers are outraged, but state Rep. Jeffrey Roy of Franklin says newspapers just don't have the reach they used to - and are pretty expensive, to boot.

Legal Notices in an easier to read format. City Council.
Legal Notices could have a easier to read format so that the topic of a notice can be comprehended among other posted notices more quickly. When Legal Notices appear the topic is often buried in text.

First publish minutes, records online
It would be great to ALSO publish legal notices on-line in addition to printed in newspapers. Not printing in papers hides what your government is doing and invites less transparent bidding that raises costs. If government wants to go modern, put most meeting and hearing transcripts online as a matter of course.

While they are at it: every city and town should post videos of their meetings on a municipal YouTube channel. A local level online version of CSPAN shouldn't cost much if anything beyond the cost of a simple video recorder and the staffer's time to upload. The public should have access to all of this information to see how much or little work their civil servants are doing.
