Dude was one of those who
Dude was one of those who walks half a mile an hour, completely engrossed in their phone, blocking other walkers, crossing intersections without looking. Can't tell you how many times I've wanted to take their phones and do the same thing and I love my phone.
How do you know he was
How do you know he was walking so slowly...? Did you take and smash it? If so, classic misdirection
Yes, because physically
Yes, because physically assaulting a person and destroying their property is the proper, adult response for a minor inconvenience that takes up a few seconds of your day.
damn
straight... this is Massachusetts, we don't have time for that shit.
Why can't they be
Why can't they be inconvenienced and look at their phone out of everyones way? Eh? I respond to emails/texts/messages instantaneously but I don't do it in an inconvenient way for others. How many people know what I'm talking about?
The solipsism of someone
The solipsism of someone blocking the sidewalk while engrossed in their cellphone, completely oblivious to the needs of others, is still nowhere near the solipsism of a grown adult whose ideal response to them, instead of an "Excuse me" or a side-step around them, is to steal and destroy their personal property (with an additional shove to the ground, as the original story went.)
Yeah, you might get yelled at for saying "Excuse me, you're blocking me." You might. But you won't know if the other person has a bad attitude or is merely distracted until you actually say something, yet here you're perfectly willing to smash their phones as your immediate reaction.
