Does anyone watch Fringe? I could never get into it, because I could never suspend my disbelieve when they say that there's a competent FBI Branch in Massachusetts.
On Fresh Air they interviewed two Globe reporters who have written a book about Bulger. One of them was the main author on the original story about Whitey being a rat for the FBI. He says that he talked to this one prominent mob attorney in the area. After Bulger went on the lam and his connections with the FBI were confirmed this attorney asked some of his clients why none of them ever went after Bulger for being a rat and he said that all these mobsters said they didn't believe the stories about him being a rat were true because they could never see the FBI getting into be with someone as violent and greedy as Whitey Bulger.

I'm not sure your point. Who
I'm not sure your point. Who else would be better suited to right a book about Bulger than reporters who have done extensive reporting on him?
