Citizen complaint of the day: Not just entitled owners of expensive cars who park in front of hydrants

Stupid Fiat

A concerned citizen complains about a stupid little tin can at Brainerd Road and Griggs Street in Allston:

This fiat has parked in front of the hydrant every day this week.

Looks like it isn't blocking the hydrant

Yeah, looks like it's just about blocking it but a few inches or a foot short of it. Who ever reported this just has a vendetta against the person and used positional photography to make it seem what they wanted.

But the law is you need a couple feet, I believe, on either side so although it's not blocking it, it's still illegal!

i think 5 feet is required, but in allston its not unusual to leave about 2ft.

MA General Laws Chapter 90, Section 20A1/2

...the fine for the violation of the parking of motor vehicles within ten feet of a fire hydrant shall not be more than one hundred dollars...

You guys can look this stuff up for yourselves, you know. Google "MA GL [whatever it is you're wondering about]"

10 feet, but if it is at least accessible that helps a lot. Less than ten feet is a tag and tow. Problem is you give some folks an inch, they think they're a ruler.

You can use www.duckduckgo.com. 'The search engine that doesn't track you.'

I use startpage.com, "the world's most private search engine." I just said google because I want it to be a generic verb.

It appears to be too close to the hydrant AND too close to the intersection

Stop bitching. Leave a note and let the air out of one tire. Problem solved!

What happens when there's a fire right across the street? Well, true, it's a Fiat, so a couple of firefighters could probably just roll it on its side, but still.

that your tires are overinflated.

See also parking in bus stops, bike lanes.

First, this is Redford and Brainerd, not Griggs (I know, the Citizen's Connect is wrong too). Second, it's too close to the hydrant...ticket.
Third, it's too close to the intersection...another ticket.
Fourth, somewhere along Brainerd that side of the road becomes a tow zone and no parking allowed, I just don't recall the dividing line....maybe another ticket.

Perhaps whomever reported the parking infraction has a grudge against hot women or the use of them in Fiat car commercials.
