Cape man found stabbed on Mass. Ave. in Arlington

Arlington Police report finding a man with a freshly stabbed neck around 4 p.m. on Mass. Ave. at Melrose Street.

Police say the victim, a 23-year-old from Falmouth:

Was conscious and alert when rescuers got to him. He was taken to an area hospital, where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

There is no word on a suspect at this time, and the victim is not currently cooperating with law enforcement. However, police have reason to believe that this was not a random act of violence.

Unfortunately I would bet this is tied to opiates. As much as this is an issue in Boston, it's huge on the Cape. Likely a deal gone awry, or something along those lines.

You got it, Steve. We'll be seeing more of it before less.

I'm pretty sure you just saved many of us the trouble of having to type that. I talked to a cop from Alabama a few years ago, he was one of those swat types, said he'd never come across heroin in his career so far. Their drug epidemic was crystal meth, not sure which one of us got the lucky end of it.

People on heroin nod off and OD.
People on meth don't OD and just get tweaked out for another marathon crime spree
