Fire breaks out in West End building

Boston firefighters responded to 2 Hawthorne Pl., off Blossom, for a fire around 9:25 p.m. on the second floor of the 12-story building. They had the fire knocked down by 9:40 p.m.

There was also a one apartment fire at #1 Cliffmont Street, the elderly housing, in Roslindale just before that. The building filled with smoke and had to be evacuated.

Does anyone else recall the good old days when the "West End" was a Colonial-era memory and we made fun of people for trying to sound extra-fancy by saying "West End," instead of admitting they lived on the bottom of Beacon Hill. In other words, does anyone else remember 2005?
