Four dead in Lynn house fire

So sad

I don't know what caused this one but it sure feels like the beginning of another fire-a-day stretch through the winter over things like unattended space heaters and heat lamps.

What would it take to educate people on this? Last winter I let people stay with me (see: any of the eastie gentrification articles. Want to know why more neighbors don't step up to help each other out, these jerks were why, taking advantage of neighbors all up and down the block) who thought nothing of leaving giant space heaters unattended for DAYS, no matter how many times I tried to explain that my wood balloon-frame house would be done for by the time the first smoke detector pealed.

People do not take this seriously and it leads to horrific tragedies. I do not blame the victims (it may well have started on another floor entirely) but come on, the inconvenience of coming home to a slightly chilly house (I have a new heating system but modern insulation is still on the to-do list and they'd set it to 85, EIGHTY-FIVE) is nothing compared to being homeless or dead.

I failed to convey that to my guests but there must be some way to hammer it home to the general public.
