If the owner of this house reads this then please watch out for the pubic adjuster. You may have been approached by 2 or 3 already. In dealing with a similar situation I hired one and regret the decision. As soon as the man I hired received the bulk of his commission he made it clear that I was no longer of any importance. He was deceitful in his communication. I doubt if he was ethical according to whatever standards exist.

The services he provided could have been found without his help or paying him his 10% commission.

If you signed up with a public adjuster you have three days to cancel the contract. That is state law. Find a contractor who understands the process of insurance rebuilds and find an attorney who has expertise in dealing with the entire process of repairing or rebuilding your home (including getting insurance payments, dealing with loss of use, aka ALE payments) and all the many other major and minor details that you will now have to deal with.

I wish you the best of luck with the entire process of repairing or rebuilding if that is what you have to do.
