Rotting away in the remote Pennsylvania woods

In September of 2015, Boston.com ran a story that explains why old Green Line PCC Trolley's are rotting in the remote Pennsylvania woods. Apparently some engineer purchased them in the early 1990s and had plans on refurbishing them, but never did, so the cars sit there and rot.

I've been watching a ton of urban exploration videos on YouTube lately, and came across two videos where two guys actually went in with video cameras to the site and filmed the cars in more detail.

I found the Exploring with Josh (link to YT channel) video first, but later on found the Exploring with Steve (link to YT channel) video when writing a post for social media earlier today. I think the videos were both shot at the same time, as I recognize Steve from other Exploring with Josh videos, and they usually travel together as a pair.

Anyways have a look. I suggest turning the sound off though, as Josh (and Steve to a lesser extent) endless talk through the video. Its better to just read the BDC article if you want more accurate information about the site in Pennsylvania.

Writer's Side Note: If you're into urban exploration, and want to waste a ton of time, I highly suggest watching some of these videos. Some are pretty neat and well done. I recommend looking at videos by Dan Bell (This is Dan Bell and his Film It channels), The Proper People, and Bright Sun Films (Who did a great video of the history of the Ames Department Store). And while Josh goes to more cool places, he talks way too much in his videos, usually has no clue what he's talking about, and seems to be more interested in being a YouTube celebrity than producing quality videos. (But that's all IMHO) But he does go to cool places like Chernobyl!

Thanks for a fascinating article. I hope somebody urban explores the T's abandoned executive office someday and posts a vid about what might have happened to its missing leadership.

I was trying to think of a funny title to the similar respect involving the recent break downs.. but I don't have the same finesse adam has with words :-)

It would be something like.. "this is what happens when the red line sits too long.. you rot" or something like that.

Some of the Green Line cars in current service don't look much better than these.

In the woods behind this long building, I believe.

I kinda knew where it was.. but could not find the exact location. You can see the whole train of them beyond the building.

I remember hearing about a story where the MBTA buried there trollieys in the abandoned tunnels under Tremont street so the public wouldn't find out.
