Other Harvard Square newsstand to be replaced by pizza place

Cambridge Day reports Crimson Corner, the former Nini's Corner, is now slated to become a pizzeria - one of numerous changes in Harvard Square that would leave people visiting for the first time in awhile wondering what happened to the square they used to know. Out of Town News, of course, is already facing a possible eviction by its landlord, the city of Cambridge.

Cool. I like pizza! This location will be good for when I don't have the time to walk half a block to awesome Otto or two blocks to overrated Pinnochio's.

You can buy magazines right upstairs at the Coop or across the street at Out of Town, if you do that sort of thing.

Time marches on, and the only reason I went in was to get DRFs but it was part of that character of the Square that the old timers are lamenting the disappearance of . I always preferred it to Out of Town, the people behind the counter were nice and we occasionally talked about racing.

Ah yes, back when the Daily Racing Form was worth buying/reading. $11 bucks an issue would be worthwhile if the paper had doubled in quality...which it certainly hasn't.

I get it on big days only at this point, and since Crimson Corner is closing, you'll have to go to Palace Spa in Brighton to get it.

At least it's being replaced by a pizza place, and not another bank branch.

I used to be amused to walk in and grab the paper and watch the raincoat crew furiously going through the smut magazines in the back pre-interwebs era with one eye on the mag and one eye up to see if anyone they knew was in the store.

Area 4? Are you kidding? Over-rated.

How about Beauty's, Armando's, Pinocchio's or Newtowne Grille (seriously amazing, don't judge by the building).
