It's mentioned 3 times in the linked article and then just sorta skims over the "pulling fire alarms and screaming that people are chasing him" quote.

Property damage crimes, theft, and the like, are often split into tiers based on the value of the property in question. MA for example divides felonies from misdemeanors at $1200. He'll also have to pay restitution, and that's a notably expensive planter.

the real crime is a planter costs several thousands dollars. one literally puts dirt in it.

That's clearly the real crime, not breaking and entering or the vandalism. How dare a planter appreciate with age and become more valuable than schneidz declares it should be.

"how dare a planter appreciate"

Rotflmao. Wait...are you serious?

The story is the person having a psychotic break and pulling fire alarms.

As michael jordan would say "%$#@ them planters".

Often drug addicted and/or mentally ill, desperate people; don't be surprised if someone smashes in your expensive fancy front door with a $1000. planter.

Domestic violence is no big deal because there's real crime in the area?

Sigh.

Where did I say that, or imply it, in my post?

Don’t be surprised if someone wants them to go to jail.

According to online directories, Mr. Pearson lives at 251 West Newton Street, near the corner of Saint Botolph Street. The boundary of the South End has always been at the railroad tracks, now the Southwest Corridor Park.

There has been much discussion over the years about what to call the Saint Botolph neighborhood -- for example is it part of the Back Bay? -- but it is definitely not part of the South End.

St. Botolph resident parking is Back Bay. As you say, South End starts at the park.
