Massachusetts joins six other states to try to roll out large-scale, fast-answer coronavirus tests

The Washington Post reports seven states, including Massachusetts, have formed a consortium to buy large numbers of Covid-19 tests that can show whether somebody has the virus in as little as 15 minutes. Under the plan, developed by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan - another Republican in a Democratic state - we'd get 500,000 of the test kits, which could help public-health officials begin contact tracing far faster than waiting for results to come back from overwhelmed labs.

I have been tested twice and waited over a week for a call from my health center both times. I ended up buying an antibody test from Quest Diagnostics and needed to set up an online account with them. I found out that Quest posted my results the day after my sample was collected, but for what ever reason, my health center didn't call for several days. Quest is one of the biggest lab companies in the country. Once you sign up for an online account they will ask if you want all the results of all your tests, and then they are on your page in the portal.

Obviously, these 15 minute tests are still need for tracking hotspots, but overnight results would help.
