That was no comet, and neither was it a fully armed and operational battle station

Around 7:50 p.m., Tina St. Gelais Kelly looked up and saw something that looked like a comet streaking across the sky and no, she assured us, she was not stoned.

Jason Silva responded:

It's the second stage of a Falcon 9 rocket, launched from down here in Florida. Extra visible because the timing of the launch illuminated the exhaust in sunlight against the dark sky.

Spousal unit and I were at an outdoor party in Allston. Several of us noted it in the southeastern sky. At the time I thought it might be a unusual contrail from an extremely high altitude flight (which I suppose is kinda right?)

We had plenty of nerds in attendance but apparently no aero/astro engineers. Very interesting sight to have caught by happenstance!
