I'd call it a trend. Remember: we were all told how electric bikes and scooters were going away very soon. Electric cars, too. Now the naysayers are resorting to fake news stories to try to kill them.

I'd say pickleball is about as faddish as Tennis and Golf. It is a very accessible sport.

I still have to dodge all the platform tennis courts in my way.

Since the courts are the same size, you can essentially play both on the same court (assuming the balls bounce similarly on the court material).

but it does seem like it'd make sense to try and make sure that whatever they build could be easily converted to other uses if needed. Hopefully that's part of this $70k study they've commissioned.
