Two Boston state reps could actually have opposition next year

No, don't fret, Angelo Scaccia of Hyde Park isn't one of them. Josh Dawson reports Rose Staram, a Dorchester Democrat, started a fundraising committee this year for a possible run against Liz Malia of JP, while Marty Walz of the Back Bay, has opposition in Republican Brad Marston, who already has 1600+ followers on Twitter.

There's one media outlet that isn't so sanguine about the Patriots' performance Sunday: WRKO-AM. They beg to differ:

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports on the brick lobbed through a window of at-large candidate Tito Jackson's Grove Hall home last week. Police make arresting argument with Allston/Brighton college students

Boston Police report that beefed up patrols in Allston/Brighton have helped lead to the following stats since students returned last month: 27 students arrested, 11 criminal complaints issued and 138 tickets for violations of city ordinances have been handed out. Police add they have their legal eyes on local landlords:

Landlords and homeowners should be aware that criminal charges may be filed and pursued against them as a result of such an investigation if a violation is discovered.

That might be news to some of the Brighton residents interviewed by the Herald, who say they haven't seen much improvement since passage of, in the Herald's understated words, "a much-ballyhooed Hub ordinance meant to curb wild college booze bashes and overcrowding in student apartments."

How much would you pay to read the Herald online?

Herald Publisher Pat Purcell says the paper could start charting a subscription for online access to its stories by next year, the Herald reports, adding, however, that Purcell also said he realizes it might not work unless the Globe also agrees to charge.

You may recall the Herald used to charge for access to its columns but ended that when it appeared few people wanted to pay to read them.

The Boston Business Journal has more.
