Jay, who writes for the Herald, has issued a challenge for the anonymously vitriolic media critic who goes by the name of Johnny Bag O'Donuts: Show yourself:

I recently wrote about Fernald, a mental institution in Waltham, Mass.
The articles were published this week....

I also made a mini-documentary about the place. I shot and edited video footage, scanned in some old photos of the institution, and used a MindFIELD song for the soundtrack. You can view it on my video blog: http://dotrat.blogspot.com/

Kinda hard to miss the above-the-fold front-page article in the Globe today about Gather.com, which aims to become the eBay of blog posts. John Daley's analysis:

What great luck for the owners of a new web startup to have a major newspaper do a front page story with color logo and direct links in the online version of the story.

Lost in all the hoohah about what Tom Reilly did or didn't say based on who he did or didn't talk to about those two dead Southborough teens is the fact that Worcester County D.A. John Conte is up for re-election. Some people are not real happy about that.

Sean McCarthy writes for the Herald, so you might expect him to care about goings-on at that paper, but he does raise an interesting question about Boston's own Professional Media Critic: Does Mark Jurkowitz realize the Globe isn't the only daily newspaper published inside Rte. 128?

When I link to somebody's post here, I try to use the blogger's first name if I know it. Why the affectation? When I started out, I thought it might be cool to try to give this meta-blog a sort of conversational coffeehouse-ish feel - if you're sitting around a table at your favorite coffee place, of course you'd address the other people by their first name.

One reader, though, thinks this is wrong:

Remember last summer how we all got sucked in by the clever viral marketing campaign to help some MIT grad student get his PhD by answering a long survey on our blogging habits? Remember how some of us even put his oh-so-cute buttons on our blogs to help spur traffic to the survey? Remember how he said he would eventually post the results?

He didn't. Instead, he tells Bostonist he's too busy with his new job - at Yahoo. One hopes not in the Weblog department.

No more medialog_2. Now Mark's at thephoenix.com/medialog. First post: Optimism that the revival of Jack Williams at Channel 4 means Big Personalities are back at local anchordesks (hmm, does this mean somebody will be unfreezing Tom Ellis?).

I just sign-up this Free service.  Some of their multimedia features caught my interest are:

- an online video blogging feature: simply drag & drop videos and publish instantly,

- an online recording for podcast: you can even record Skype conversation and use it for your own podcasting,

- another interesting feature is the "Audio slideshow" - you just need to upload your digital photos and record some narration online, you then got a
"Talkingslideshow; It's great for Show' N Tell your stories.

At least, some of the time. Dan Gillmor yesterday announced the formation of the non-profit Center for Citizen Media. Although it'll be based in the San Francisco area, Gillmor says the center will be affiliated with Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet and Society - and that he'll be in Cambridge at least once a month:

... We also plan to sponsor regular gatherings at both locations (and, I hope, elsewhere in my travels) for people interested in citizen journalism. ...

Tim declares:

As I washed paint off my hands this afternoon, I reflected: You can always tell the housebloggers among us. They are the ones who have to finish priming and painting a wall before they can put up their Christmas tree in front of it. ...

So Typepad collapsed while installing a new storage system to help it survive a system collapse. JL, who has a Typepad account, reports:

... At first I was anxious - I need to put a post letting people know I can't post - but then, I relaxed. I let go. There was no need to do anything at all. Art, museums, the internets, all these things would take care of themselves. ...

Krissy dreams about writing a blog post. Jay reports two nights of dreams about specific bloggers.

Hmm, now what if they both read this and dream about meeting each other?
