Yes, you can get arrested for smacking a cat with a sauce pan hard enough to dent the pan

A Dorchester man who allegedly does not like his girlfriend's cat found himself under arrest yesterday after police found evidence he'd whacked the cat with a sauce pan. Boston Police report charging Emmanuel Rodriguez, 22, of Dorchester, with cruelty to animals at 237 Washington St.:

Officers then entered the apartment and located the victim's white cat "Snowballs". Officers observed that the cat was bleeding from its rear paw and also had blood covering both of its front legs. Officers also observed that the cat was conscious, although, it appeared to be significantly injured. When the cat's owner attempted to pick the cat up, the cat began making loud noises.

Victim told officers that the suspect (Mr. Rodriguez) called her and stated, "I hit your cat because he knocked over the computer monitor." She then stated that Mr. Rodriguez told her he hit the cat with a sauce pan. The cat's owner then located a metal sauce pan on the floor and stated, "He hit the cat with this." Officers did observe that the sauce pan had two dents on the side of it, as well as white hair on it. Officers then observed several spots of blood on the kitchen floor and table.

Police report that the cat is recovering at Angell Memorial Hospital. Rodriguez, they say, expressed amazement he could be arrested for hitting a cat.

Innocent, etc.

This guy is kinda dumb on so many levels...

1) "I didnt know I could get arrested for hitting a cat" should have been silence instead. At the very least he should have said "oh no, snowball, is she ok? What happened." He doesnt seem too smart to be confessing to the police in such a lackluster way which leads us to point number 2.

2) Who hits a cat with a frying pan, seriously, that doesnt do anything. If anything it is going to make matters worse as the skitterish cat avoids said moron , thereby knocking over more stuff.

3) What, leaving the scene of the crime without cleaning up afterwards? What ever happened to covering your tracks. He even left the frying pan on the floor, moron.

4) Most people who harm animals seem to be morons, there must be something in them that doesnt comprehend the feelings of other beings. He could also be a sociopath as they say one of the signs of a sociopath is abuse of animals.

5) This is for the girlfriend, if you dont want your boyfriend to be arrested dont call the police. Seems like a logical point, but hey. I can only hope she was saying that so he wouldnt hurt her rather then truely believing she could call the police and have them fix the problem without arrested her jerkwad of a boyfriend.

Isn't this how people like Jeff Dahmer got started?

Look at the ad for this little guy that we adopted a few months ago:

It takes a special kind of evil, sick bastard who'd intentionally do harm to a pet or a kid.
