Police: Uninvited guest at West Roxbury party whacks guy in the head with a tire iron

UPDATE: McCann found guilty, sentenced to jail.

Boston Police report a party at 11 Pleasantdale Rd. ended early Sunday when a Hingham man used a tire iron upside another man's head.

Thomas A. McCann, 26, of Hingham, was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and assault and battery for the 3:40 a.m. incident.

According to police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, McCann learned about the party on Facebook, then showed up with his sister. She got into an argument with somebody, it spilled outside and McCann joined in with a tire iron, the DA's office says.

McCann "struck the victim with a tire iron over the head and assaulted him," and then fled in a car, leaving the victim "lying at the end of the driveway with a large laceration over his eye and large gash to the back of his head," police say. Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

McCann was arrested Sunday afternoon in Hingham - in the same sort of Mitsubishi in which he fled West Roxbury, police and the DA's office say.

West Roxbury District Court Judge Kenneth Desmond set bail at $1,500 and ordered him to return to court on July 19, the DA's office reports.

Innocent, etc.
