Police hunt Boston hater who punches out man, who then gets run over by a cab

UPDATE: A law-enforcement source and a fan say the victim in the attack was One Armed Push-Up Guy, well known outside Boylston Street bars and in the Fenway for doing one-armed pushups for a fee, like this:

Boston Police report that around 2 a.m., a guy standing in the middle of Boylston Street outside Whiskey's, 885 Boylston St., yelled "Fuck Boston and fuck your businesses!" and then turned around and punched a nearby man, who fell unconscious into the street:

Witnesses reported a cab traveling inbound on Boylston Street ran over the victim while he was unconscious in the road and dragged him under the vehicle.

The screaming puncher then ran inbound on Boylston and disappeared down Fairfield Street, police say. He's described as 30 to 32, 5'10" and clad in a dark jacket with a fur-lined hood.

The cab driver told police he did not realize he'd hit somebody and stopped only when bystanders started motioning to him. The victim was taken to Mass. General and is expected to survive, police say.

If you know the guy, contact D-4 detectives at 617-343-5619 or the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

I highly doubt that. As much as I hate to admit it, I've found Yankee fans to be more high class than Sox fans. They don't care enough about Boston to curse the city out. Only Bostonians feel the need to compare themselves to NY, while New Yorkers are comparing themselves to London or Paris.

I am never scared to go to Yankee stadium decked out in Red Sox gear. However, I always feel sorry for the Yankees fans at Fenway and fear they'll get roughed up after the game if the Sox come out on the wrong side of the scorecard.

Really? Read this:

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24468147/

I wonder if Mets fans pull this high and mighty 'too big to notice you' crap on Phillies fans too?

Or do Yankees fans usually punch unsuspecting Londoners while shouting invective at the Queen?

Nice try, sport.

Right, I can google search for 5-year old articles too. Here you go:
http://www.wickedlocal.com/cambridge/news/x1637136...

Both are isolated incidents and say nothing about Yankees or Red Sox fans as a whole. I'm just saying the original comment is ridiculous.

BTW, see Adam's article above which corroborates my claim that big cities think we're "cute" because we try too hard to act like we're a world-class city.

You just referenced the Onion to prove your point. Might be time to get off the internet

I never said Sox fans were above causing mayhem to Yankees fans....I simply blew a wide sucking flesh-wound to your fantasy land.

Also don't get me wrong, I love Boston. I love it more than New York. It's BECAUSE we're such a small and second-tier city that I love it. I just hate it when people from the boonies of New Hampshire come to Boston for college and think they're on top of the world and then try to compare it to New York. Anyways, I'm getting off topic now. Bottom line, I think comment #1 is retarded.

I suppose you would also have us believe that San Francisco, New Orleans, Seattle, Portland, Montreal, Austin, Atlanta, Dublin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Florence, etc are all 'small' and 'second-tier' cities because they pale in comparison to mighty New York? OK, I get it now...ALL HAIL NEW YORK! Boston's 'insecurity' as you call it is only matched by New York's pompous fatuousness. I haven't met a Bostonian yet who hasn't enjoyed New York, we just can't stand certain ball clubs there.

Now I admit it has gotten better in NY but.....

I go to about 20 Red sox games a year in Boston, and usually about 5 or so Yankee games a year in NY.

People who wear opposing jerseys in New York are sometimes asked to leave by security even if they don't do anything wrong. This never happens in Boston. NY fans get razzed on here, but they don't even come close to how opposing fans are treated at Yankee stadium, especially in the bleachers.

But how do you not know that you've run someone over?!?

Denial, or covering your ass.

AKA: lying.

This is partly because intent is required for some of the more serious driving charges. "Duhhhh, I didn't know some guy went under my car, officer!" = now prosecutors have to prove that you OBVIOUSLY knew you hit someone.

So, then you say something like "Duhhh, i didn't know some guy went under my car, officer! I remember glancing down at the radio to change stations..."

of being a "Cyclist", tell everyone your a cyclist. You ride a bike around one of the smallest cities in America, you don't compete in the Tour de France. YOUR NOT A CYCLIST, that's like me calling myself a barista because i make coffee every day before work. GET OVER YOURSELF!

Definition of CYCLIST
: one who rides a cycle

(from m-w.com)

The term biker, bicyclist, and cyclist, are interchangeable.

The people you're referring to are "pro riders" or "pro cyclists."

PS:Where's your rant about our clothing, homophobe?

Just this monday I was riding up Comm Ave to Brighton and the 57 bus came from behind me and somehow found a reason to pull over ever so slightly into my lane until there were only a few inches between my handlebars and the bus. (We were in between stops along BU, so the bus had no reason to be pulling into the bike lane at that point.)

Clearly the driver just didn't see my flashing bright lights or reflective jacket.

There was a female driver on the 28 route who would routinely squeeze me off the road on Washington St. She'd drive past, slow down, look at me and as soon as we made eye contact she would pull ahead and inch right. Glad my bike commute has changed and I don't deal with the 28 bus anymore.
