Handguns, rifle, ammo, car stolen in Dorchester

Boston Police are looking for a car they say thieves stole to make their getaway after breaking into a home on Spaulding Street yesterday afternoon and stealing two handguns, an AR-15 rifle and more than 300 rounds of ammunition.

If you see a gray, 2010 Jetta, with Mass. plates 811-LW8, contact police and do not approach.

Thought gun ownership was supposed to be a deterrent to crime.

Someone broke into a house and stole weapons? So it is the weapons that caused the crime? Do you know that is the reason they broke in? I bet if the owner was home the criminals would have been the ones to get hurt or arrested. Boston Liberals are so funny.. If someone robs you, assaults you, or tries to hurt your kids, who do you call? Someone with a gun like a cop. So why not cut out the middle man and actually stop the crime from happening? Get armed to protect yourself, especially if you live in Dot or Roxbury the chances are you will need a firearm to keep yourself safe.

If this homeowner did not buy a gun, and take it then this criminal would have fewer guns now. Period. All illegal guns start with someone legally owning them.

Yeah, the gun owner bought the gun for protection of his home. So people who broke in would be deterred. Let's see, did that work?

Your idea is that if the homeowner were home, then the person who broke in would have been shot? Right, because every single person says the same BS about guns: if someone breaks in, I'll shoot 'em! Except that someone did break in and the homeowner did not shoot them. How many break in do you think this person has in a month? In a year? So, we think that in a lifetime for BEs there would be like 9 out of 10 "shoot the guy"s and only 1 "wasn't home, couldn't shoot the guy?" Honestly, I would just imagine that the person would not have broken into the home.

However, now, the criminal can just keep coming back to the same house to rob because the homeowner (who is so scared of death at the hands of a serial killer he will risk harming his family) will surely buy a replacement gun. So, said criminal could just sit on the house, wait for the owner to leave and go steal the new guns.

Yeah, it turns out that GUN POSSESSION CAN MAKE YOU A TARGET. Which means instead of keeping you safe, it has the opposite result.

there would be no more criminals. You know every criminal was a baby once!

As they like to say here at UHUB:

BLAME THE VICTIM MUCH?

You are right that advertising your gun ownership can make you a target for theft, thus it's not smart to advertise that anymore than talking about expensive jewelery your wife owns.

Not smart to have your weapons unsecured. Especially since there's options to keep them both secured, and easy to access in the case of an emergency.

I'm far from anti-gun, but I am anti-stupid. And too many gun owners, all too often, give the rest a bad name.

Buddy, fear? You obviously base opinions on unbiased news /media. Most people who live and work in Dorchester or Roxbury do not live in "fear" as u might beleive. Many of us laugh at how silly suburbanites are about crime ect! LOL! We enjoy the city and its parks. ...and with common sense most of us will not be part of the violence that happens and ways will with inner cities.

The reason the violence sadly will continue is because of a sick cycle that only this element can stop. And because most of us are untouched by such behavior we cannot change these issues.
