Police raid Roslindale house linked to drug sales, gang violence; arrest one, seize gun, ammo, marijuana

Boston Police report arresting a Roslindale man during a raid on his Lesher Street home early Thursday.

Anderson Vargas, 19, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, improper storage of a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, police say.

Police say the BPD drug control unit and SWAT unit busted into 10 Lesher St. around 4:30 a.m., armed with two search warrants. Police say officers recovered a loaded Raven Arms model P-25 semiautomatic firearm, additional ammunition, a large plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana, one marijuana plant in a makeshift grow area and drug paraphernalia.

The members of the City Wide DCU had become aware of this location due to reports of drug activity, including usage and sales, in the area. They also learned that one suspect in particular had been heavily involved in a feud with members of a rival street gang leading to a shooting at an area residence, and the suspect subsequently purchased a firearm illegally for retaliation.

In January, a man was shot at 9 Ridge St. in Roslindale.

Innocent, etc.
