Man shot in Mattapan Square; suspect caught, held on high bail
A Hyde Park man is charged with shooting a man over an argument he initially had nothing to do with inside the T-Mobile store on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan Square yesterday afternoon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Saquan Gaul, 23, was ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bail today at his arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court on a variety of gun charges, the DA's office says.
According to prosecutors, Gaul decided to insert himself in a dispute between his victim, 51, and a woman inside the T-Mobile store at 1667 Blue Hill Ave. around 2:30 p.m.
Gaul and the other man walked outside and Gaul then shot him in the hand and thigh. As the man slumped into a chair that happened to be sitting outside the store, Gaul fled down River Street and Edgewater Drive, the DA's office says.
A witness pointed police to an Edgewater Drive store that Gaul had entered.
Gaul was found to be in possession of a Taurus PT. 22 caliber handgun with what appeared to be a spent shell casing jammed in the barrel’s breach, prosecutors said. He was also found to be carrying a plastic bag of crack cocaine.
Gaul was formally charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a Class B substance as a subsequent offense based on a 2015 conviction for possession of a class B substance. He was also charged as a Level III armed career criminal for a 2014 assault conviction and two convictions in 2012 for assault and battery on a police officer. The Level III charge means longer potential sentences should he be convicted.
Innocent, etc.

M.Y.O.F.B. which stands for "Mind Your Own Fuckin' Business", which is what this guy should have done.
How about it is our business
I'd like to know why a violent career criminal was out and about after committing and being convicted of a string of serious offenses over the past five years.
OMG
Let's break this down
One drug case - not distribution but possession
One assault case - not assault and battery but assault, which basically means a threat
Two ABPOs - This could be anything, but two in one year means it was probably pushing and shoving two cops during an arrest
If this constitutes a string of serious offenses by a violent career criminal where you come from, then welcome to the big city, kid
I'm from the city. Getting
I'm from the city. Getting convicted of that much serious carp in a short period of time is disturbing and NOT normal. Condoning punk behavior like that is why some neighborhoods aren't safe.
You obviously missed the part about
Level III career criminal. Doubt you get that for simple possession, simple assault, or minor shoves of police officers.
You Don't Know The Fact
You people have a bad habit of voicing your opinion with know the facts, which makes you ignorant.
He could have been a stand up guy, defending this woman.
He could been a peace-maker
A peacemaker, sure
Who just happens to be carrying a gun and puts two holes into a guy twice his age.
Exactly
When I see a man arguing with a woman, the first thing I think is "I should probably shoot the guy."
Salt of the earth. Stand up guy. Hyde Park needs more guys like this.
You mean
He could have been that fabled "good guy with a gun"?
