Police: Officers free woman forced into prostitution in Dorchester, arrest pimp and gun-toting pal

UPDATED, 1:50 p.m., Friday, with arraignment info.

Boston Police report officers from the human-trafficking unit escorted a woman away from a Norfolk Street house and arrested two men, one of whom they say had forced her into prostitution.

The officers had 204 Norfolk St. under surveillance when the woman walked out alone around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. She "was escorted safely out of the area to be interviewed by detectives," police say. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office:

Detectives learned that Martinez had arranged encounters during which the woman performed sexual acts in return for money – all of which was kept by Martinez. He allegedly physically abused the victim and told her she couldn’t go home unless she made money, prosecutors said.

Then, around 9:20 p.m., police say, Jose Martinez, 25, of Dorchester, and Rashid Parham, 18, of Roslindale, walked out and got into a ride-share car:

Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Morton Street and Blue Hill Avenue with the assistance of additional responding units from District B-3 (Mattapan) at which time Jose Martinez was removed and in placed custody without incident. As the officers were simultaneously removing Rashid Parham, he attempted to push past the officers and flee on foot at which time he was taken to the ground and placed in custody after a brief struggle. Officers then located and recovered a loaded .40 caliber Highpoint Model JCP firearm inside the vehicle in the area where Parham had been seated.

Martinez was charged with sex trafficking and kidnapping. Parham was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Martinez had bail set at $25,000, but he won't be going anywhere because the judge at his arraignment revoked his bail on an open case out of Newton related to stolen cars, the DA's office reports. He also faces a hearing on his probation status for three past convictions in Boston Municipal Ccourt for coke distribution.

Despite his age, Parham is registered as an armed-career criminal for a 2015 conviction in West Roxbury juvenile court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault and battery.

Parham also had bail set at $25,000 and was also ordered held pending a probation hearing in West Roxbury on the 2015 conviction - which despite his youthful-offender status then, can still be used to lengthen any sentence he might get, the DA's office says.

Innocent, etc.

That in my life this is a situation i dont live in fear of nor think about unless it is put in front of me. Generally something I associate with third world hell holes, despite the relative frequency that you read about this happening locally.

its nice to not worry

Note that it is often easier to find these scumbags when their neighbors don't fear ICE dragging them off in the night for daring to report the goings on that they know are bad.
