Teenager fires gun in Codman Square, police say

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old on charges he fired a round outside 60 Southern Ave. around 5:10 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a dispatcher sent officers there after the BPD ShotSpotter system went off. An officer spotted the teen walking from the scene:

As the officer exited his marked cruiser, the suspect began to run and a foot pursuit ensued. With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was placed into handcuffs. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and recovered a firearm from his front pant pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one empty casing in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.

He was charged with being delinquent for illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a large-capacity feeding device and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, police say.
