I grew up in Worcester (Wistah), and I'm up in New Hampshire now. Up here we say "from away" --- as in "he's definitely from away."Delia

My grandmother's family had been in the United states since 1620 she was descended from the Ayers of Haverhill and the Crumbs of Westerly. She was active in the DAR and was quite a snob to boot. Her branch of the family moved to Wisconsin in the 1830s. When she and her mother moved to a small town in Mass back in the 60s, she was less than amused that all of her second generation Lithuanian, Polish, and French neighbors constantly called her a foreigner.
