Never tell the hotel help you have jewelry in your luggage

Boston Police report arresting two maids at the Copley Plaza for allegedly making off with $100,000 worth of jewelry yesterday from guests at a Saturday wedding:

... Officers spoke with occupants of the room, who stated that at 10:00am, the bellhop came up to take their luggage. When he attempted to take the bag containing the wedding gifts they told him to leave it because it contained jewelry. Then they left for breakfast and returned around 12:20pm. They stated they found the maid in the room and the property missing. ...

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports that hotel maids Ramatu Deen, 27, of Roslindale, and Ailina Fernandes, 30, of Quincy, were released on $1,000 bail today after being charged with larceny over $250 and receiving stolen property worth more than $250, specifically: A pearl necklace, a gold chain, a silver watch, a gold bracelet, a silver bracelet, and several silver chains. Police were able to recover most of the jewelery, but several items are still missing.
