Poor little butterfly

OrientSee photographed a Monarch Butterfly at Belle Isle Marsh. Yesterday.

... I never expected to see a Monarch Butterfly in the marsh at the end of November. The ones that come by in September and October are migrating south. Usually the first touch of cold weather and that is the end of any butterflies. This small specimen was resting in the sun soaking up some warmth. I wish that I could be optimistic about its journey on but I can't. ...

Is it a monarch?

The colors are monarch-ish, but the markings don't look quite right. Looks more like a painted lady butterfly to me:
