Howie Carr gets redundant - repeatedly

Ever get the feeling that when Howie Carr gets pressed for time, he just repastes a series of insults into his word processor? Joe Keohane helps to prove the point by looking up all the times Carr has made a "Jacques, rhymes with Fakes" crack about Cheryl Jacques, nominated this week for a judgeship, and so the subject of Carr's column today (as Keohane notes: "Naturally, because she's a politician who isn't dead or Steve Murphy, and is appearing in Carr's column, she's in for a beating.").

By now you should know: repeating the same unclever drivel over and over makes it neither clever nor accurate. There is a difference between journalism and urinalism, and the latter has nothing to do with one of your "clever" pseudoHispanic mispronounciations.

Inaccurate? So Our Cheryl didn't get her brother a $96K do-nothing job? She didn't apply her lips to the rump of Billy Bulger, him of Racist South Boston and serial killer, child-raping brother "who I do not want to see arrested"? Yep, that was Our Cheryl, right hand woman of the Bulger machine. Somehow, all of Our Cheryl's accomplishments didn't add up to the job in the Dreaded Private Sector, so now she can drag down the taxpayers. Sorry, there's no money for more school teachers, we need to "take care" of Cheryl. That's Honest Deval for ya'.

But, yeah the $96K/year brother is indisputably Fakes and
Bulger. (I know whereof I speak--getting someone
"on the Pike" used to be fairly cheap around here.
$2K in an envelope to a state rep was enough for
an entry level position, after a nation-wide
search, of course. I was there when it happened.)
So Carr gets points for the basic premise--Jacques
was a Bulger rumpswab and continues to profit from
that association. And yes, Adam was right--this one
was repetitious and repetitive, as well as redundant.
And for that we can also blame Deval as well
as Carr--one year into his administration, not much
has changed. As long as Carr can continue to repeat
himself (accurately) Deval Patrick remains the
/dev/null of Mass politics.

As much as I dislike Howie and think he's lazy....
Isn't repeating catch phrases how you sell something?

I do think "Rhymes with Fakes" is funny, cuz I can't hear her name without hearing the refain.
BTW...the real outrage of the story is that Cheryl Jacques is becomeing a JUDGE? What could possibly qualify her for such a position?

Not sure but I can think of a daily newspaper whose editorial board will think it's a SPLENDID idea....
