Media notes: Channel 4 lays off 30; Herald editor has reason to gloat

Black Monday at WBZ-TV.

Meanwhile, Amy Derjue catches Herald Honcho Kevin Convey chanting "We're number 2! We're number 2!" because the latest Metro audit numbers show the freebie now has a smaller circulation than the Herald. Which, given that it's given out for free, might seem hard to do.

I have to disagree. He is still entertaining - if is fastball is gone, he still can get his slider to hit the outside corner often enough. He still gets plenty of breaking sports stories because of his experience. Compared to some of the older sportscasters he 'gets it' as far as covering tams beyond the B's,C's,Pats and Sox. He is willing to put college sports and the Revolution on his sports coverage. Plus I've grown up with him.
