Boston cab driver agrees not to break law after passenger threatens to report him

Fabulously Out There had just an absolutely swell time getting home to East Boston after taking in a movie at the Loews on Tremont Street, what with the cabbie refusing to take her unless she paid for his tolls on the way back:

... So I did what my East Boston cab drivers told me to do and started looking for his cab license number.

"Where is your license number," I said.

"WHAT?"

"Your license number. Your cab number. Where is it?"

"WHY?"

"Because you are NOT supposed to charge me for the tolls and I want the number so I can call Hackney." ...

With a special sad coda.

...just like the MBTA, should be nuked and built from scratch. Let anybody who wants to be a cabbie obtain a license. Let the free market weed people out.

It sounds like the hackney number wasn't posted, which is against the law. If I ever get into the back seat of a cab and see no identification/cab number, I make them pull over instantly, and run off.

I think the cab driver is right, if you do not help him on the toll fee, he is working for the toll, not for him self so what ever the law said you need to compromise
