Brookline Police don't say what was so offensive about the "girl's bike" locked to a pole at 1477 Beacon St. yesterday afternoon, but if it's yours, you'll have to contact them to get it back, because the town DPW clipped the chain and removed it.
Looks like Brookline could use some budget cutbacks too.
I've occasionally called Somerville 311 about abandoned-looking bicycles that have been locked to the same parking meter or pole for months.
Another possibility is that it was somehow in the way of a road construction or utility project.
