Snow dumping

In the South End, one building owner clears a parking lot by melting snow and then dumping it into storm drains. In Cambridge, city crews deal with excess snow by dumping it into handicap parking spaces.

so if Diogenes really wants to make a strong, clear point, then this tedious video needs to be about half as long as it is, and needs some wide and panning shots to show that the city kept non-handicapped spaces clear all around (did it? I can't tell from the video). Otherwise he's just bitching about snow. The city didn't make the snow.

Also, leading with gripes about "most liberal" this and that is a worn out old tune. Get to the point. It's actually the practice of the liberal whatevers the writer complains about, to complain about the OTHER liberal whatevers. That's boring too. Not as boring as this comment, but pretty damn boring.

Good intentions != progress

If you're a regular reader of the Cambridge Chronicle online, and the comments that appear frequently, you already know that Roy Bercaw is a profoundly confrontational and acerbic local commentator whose ad hominem attacks go flying in many directions.

I don't agree with him on most points, but I do wish that even those who disagree with me could state their case without hurting their own causes.

I also wish I knew whether other spots nearby were clear, but he likely has a good point on this one if it is what it looks like. I'd suspect a city contractor who may need to be reminded what they can and cannot do. The sheer magnitude of this snow has strained the good intentions of everyone, though. I'm sure my street isn't passable by a wheelchair right now, the shoveled paths are too narrow. But the walls of snow on either side (not to be put in the streets, of course) of the path are up to people's heads.

The nice gentleman from the first story is concerned about his landlord, who melts snow to dispose of it, worrying if this toxic, "salted and dirty snow" will end up in Boston Harbor.

Am I missing something or is Boston Harbor its ultimate destination whether the sun does the melting or heat generated from fossil fuels?
