Some guys are just a little thick

Whenever Jenny Frazier realizes the only way out of a bar situation is to give the guy a fake number, guess what number she gives them?

... And amazingly (not amazingly?) not one single guy has ever picked up on it. EVEN WHEN I MAKE IT COMPLETELY OBVIOUS. ...

Unfortunately, some poor sop has that phone number. Not only is said poor sop still getting crank phone calls from junior-high kids who heard the song on that soft rock classic hitz station the bus driver plays, but is now also getting all the guys that Jenny flushed.

At least as of 2007, some plumbing company in Rhode Island had the number on the wall - on purpose - and sued another company over its use of Jenny's number.

I'm surprised I haven't been called out on it ... although the reason the majority of these guys get the fake number is because they're too drunk to even realize they're in a conversation, so that probably explains it! But someday, someone will and when that day comes I will laugh and give the guy a well deserved high five!

Or simply, "no thank you"?

Here's a wiki where you can try them and list the results. In 617, it says a woman answers and says "Hi Jen here.....what can we do to make you smile?" (so maybe Frazer is doing these guys a favor...or maybe they go away just figuring she works for this, um, "service"). Of course, other websites, like the 2007 Jenny Scan, claim that it's just the number for Gem Plumbing in MA (who has the Jenny Number in RI's 401 area code as a source of pride and reserved rights). So maybe the wiki says "Jen" but they misheard them answer "Gem".

In any case, she'd be better off just giving them 617-861-3962, which is the Rejection Hotline.

If one frequents a scene where one has made a practice of lying to people, maybe one needs a different scene.

Lying will rot one's soul faster than drinking will rot one's liver. :)

Luckily I haven't actually been in a situation where it was easier to give that number in a long while - years, in fact. I prefer to rot my liver in the company of old friends :) But cmon - the blog entry practically wrote itself with the talk of the number on ebay. :)
