Bouquinistes near the gates around Harvard Yard offering books for passersby would be a good thing. For example from time to time there's a bouquiniste at Dexter Gate across the street from the corner of Massachusetts Ave and Plympton Street http://www.hno.harvard.edu/gazette/2005/12.15/18-g...

It's sad to see these folks go. I was there Sunday and there were a lot of folks saying goodbye and making donations.

Even though it still holds much cache I've not enjoyed the homogenization of the square over the years. I think Cardullo's is the last of the lot from the post WWII era. At some point they will go and the "urban renewal" will be complete.
