Big hubbub on Brookline/Brighton line this morning

UPDATE: Boston Police report a 20-year-old woman found lying in front of 11 Cummings Rd. around 6:30 a.m. was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives are investigating.

A little bird flits in from Corey and Evans roads and reports on the blaring sirens between 6 and 7 this morning:

Lots of Boston police cars (which was odd since it's usually Brookline PD's areas), and college age kids entering the backs of said police cars.

Anybody know more?

I think that thread was put away last night...

I was wondering that myself. I saw about 8 cop cars and the window in one of the apartments was shattered. If anyone knows what happened please let us know.

O my god...was this a murder or did she die or natural causes?

The fact that homicide detectives are involved doesn't necessarily mean murder - they get called in on unexplained deaths like this - but police have yet to say one way or another.

the only way to really know for sure is if somebody identified the woman, her family was contacted, and then the hospital performed an autopsy on her.

Autopsy. Check. Please don't keep posting about the need for an autopsy. Thanks.

I wonder if there'll be an autopsy performed on the woman.

This has to be very hard on her housemates and neighbors - not to mention her family and other friends!

There are mundane reasons these things happen too - she might have jumped, or she might have just fallen out the window.

That address is frequently occupied by BC students living off campus during their junior year (I had many friends that lived over there).

If you had told me there would be a dead 20-yr old woman found within a 5 minute walk of my apartment, I never would have guessed that it would have occurred in that direction in a million years.

Channel 4 identifies her as Gabrielle King, 20, says she may have fallen from the third floor.

Sympathy and best wishes to her family and friends.

What an ugly death she died. Without having known the young woman personally, my thoughts are with her family, friends and neighbors during these dark and difficult times.

People, I was very good friends with gabby. Please keep personal comments to yourselves. She was drinking, but she was in no way suicidal and had no enemies whatsoever that would ever want to hurt her. This has to be a random, tragic accident. As far as it's known right now through the emmanuel community cardiac arrest has been mentioned as the cause of death. She did have a known heart condition, but we're waiting to hear more.

i wouldnt say it was all that random. if she had a known heart condition and she was up until early morning drinking, then logic tells you that something bad was likely to happen. at 20, if she knew she had heart problems, she really should have been responsible enough to adjust her lifestyle accordingly. and even if the heart thing didn't play a role in it, getting so drunk you fall THROUGH a window isn't some cruel twist of fate. it is certainly tragic, and i feel for her friends and family, but this isn't something that was done to her or some freak accident. if you drink all night, you will do reckless and dangrous things. most of the time you end up with a few cuts and a hangover. sometimes you get worse...

I'm usually inclined to analyze things, but we don't have enough information to do any good with it, and idle speculation seems insensitive to the family and friends who have to cope with this tragedy.

lends a rather suspicious edge to this whole sordid incident. Also, your points are well taken, anon.

Are there enough details to say whether she was drunk and fell out of the window at 6:30 AM and discovered moments later...or that she was drunk and fell out of the window earlier (like maybe 2 or 3 AM) and wasn't discovered until 6:30 AM?

Because if it's the former, then being drunk at 6:30 AM on a Tuesday (granted it's St. Patty's Day, but still..) is pretty surreal.

of how Andy Fell down

I just figured out why I had this HSR song in my head when I woke up this morning.

Everybody feels so sorry ... everybody has a different story ...
