A final farewell to Boston from a native Texan

Mr. D, who'd been teaching high-school math here, is returning to the Rio Grande Valley. But not without listing the things that make Boston special, including the BPL, the MBTA, his students, the Dunkin' Donuts at Washington and Sagamore in Chelsea and:

... To everyone and everything responsible for Boston's exorbitant cost of living: Thank you for making me appreciate everything I have a little better. I was forced to think about what was really important in life, and "stuff" was not on the list. I have simplified my life in so many ways out of necessity, but it's made me a better person as well. I will carry these lessons with me for a long time. ...

Boston got dumped.

The only question is whether Boston will spend the next two weeks drinking and hooking up with strangers at its own bars.

Being Boston, it will get stupid trashed at those bars and start drunken fights with Cambridge.
