High-quality counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the South End
By adamg on Wed, 07/01/2009 - 6:18pm
A South End correspondent forwards a note (a real note, smart aleck) from the South End Business Alliance warning members to be on the lookout for fake C-notes. They all have the same serial number - DA29101239A - and are "slightly discolored and have a sticky texture." Also, "the reflective embossed 100 in the right-hand corner doesn't turn from green to black on the fake."

Just had one passed in Longwood
A counterfeit $100 bill was passed in our hotel restaurant here on Longwood last night (July 13).
So far the only info I have is that it was used by a "well-dressed gentleman" to pay a $25 food/drink tab.
This alone should have sent up a red flag, but unfortunately the server was not alerted by this and did not take the couple of seconds it would have taken to hold it up to the light and spot that it was a fake, so now it's my problem.
I've contacted the local Secret Service office and am awaiting a visit from an agent...
