Ah yes very soothing. Ive been there before its most pronounced on the first bus on the day when your close to an MBTA depot due to the fact that they most likely just hosed down the bus so it is dripping wet. Even the strongest of AC's will take over an hour just to lift the moisture out of a soaked bus on a hot muggy day.
I've had many instances where I've had to ask a bus driver to turn on the AC or heat. I think that, since they spend all their time in the cab of the vehicle with that convenient window-on-the-left, they don't experience what it feels like in the seats behind them.
I hopped on the #39 at Forest Hills a few weeks ago and the bus driver politely suggested I not sit any further back than the articulation, as only the forward AC unit was functional.
