The Globe reports Howie Carr smashed his car into a telphone pole in Wellesley yesterday afternoon. He's OK, but was cited for disregarding marked lanes. The telephone pole, however, did not survive.

Oh god, what a terrible tragedy

That poor telephone pole.

Glad he is okay

Can't wait to see him work that telephone pole into his Howie Carr Mad Lib column generator to produce an anti-liberal, anti-socialist screed.

It's clear...

...that a concept so SOCIALIST as a PUBLIC utility would place itself in a place that might injure hard-working Americans like himself.

I guess he just disagreed with their liberal polling results.

Yeah, that's one angle.

Yeah, that's one angle. Alternatively, he could go the anti-regulation route -- NStar or National Grid, or whatever it's called these days is a private enterprise forced to put a pole there by overzealous regulators.

But will he thank Ralph Nader?

One wonders if he will start railing against all the regulation of cars that likely saved him from injury.

$10 for best Carr-imitation column about Carr-crash into column

Surely, somebody here can imitate Howie Carr's writing style in crafting an op-ed-like column about Howie Carr's mishap with a wooden column (i.e., telephone pole)?

$10 for the best Carr-like-column-about-a-Carr-crash, 500-1000 words. Only serious satirists should apply. I'll even post it on my blog, if the winner wants. Entries by Thursday night at midnight.

And the results of the brethalizer?

or was he texting?

By any chance, did Howie

By any chance, did Howie kill a woman in the accident?

Surprised this story died so fast

How does someone manage to do something like this sober? Seemed a little weird to me. I suppose his insurance will be paying for the damage to the pole...?
